The Radio Station site is one of the most significant redevelopment opportunities
anywhere in the UK today.
Because of this exciting potential, Rugby Radio Station Limited Partnership (RRSLP) is working to put together a set of proposals which achieve a productive re-use of the site.

The development team is continuing to conduct detailed studies and technical assessments to inform the emerging plans. At the same time, we are continuing to talk to a mix of local, regional and national representatives and stakeholders to provide updates and listen to views.

As the detailed technical work reaches a conclusion, the team will be bringing forward a planning application for the proposed sustainable urban extension on the land that lies within Rugby Borough.

The team is also progressing an application for the proposed expansion of DIRFT on the land within Daventry District. These proposals currently constitute ‘nationally significant infrastructure’ and would therefore fall within the remit of the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC). A ‘Statement of Community Consultation’, detailing how local consultation will occur, has already been agreed with Daventry District Council.

(on both the Rugby and the
Daventry sides of the A5)
could deliver:
HOMES
The area is identified for housing growth within Rugby Borough Council’s Local Development Framework (LDF) Core Strategy Preferred Options. This recommends that approximately 6,200 homes should be built on the Radio Station site (from within Rugby’s total allocation of 10,800 new homes by 2026). For the land within Rugby Borough, we are developing proposals to provide a mix of quality homes to meet local needs.
