The Radio Station site covers a total of approximately 680 hectares in total and is
located on the eastern side of Rugby. Its
size and location means that it sits within the areas administered by both Rugby Borough Council and Daventry District Council. In
turn, this means that part of the site is within Warwickshire and the West Midlands and part is within Northamptonshire and the East Midlands.
With the A5 running through its centre and with close proximity to the M1 motorway, West Coast mainline and Northampton Loop line, the Radio Station has excellent transport links. |

As well as being located on the eastern side of Rugby, the site sits right at the heart of the UK. This brings considerable benefits in terms of its potential for providing jobs, homes, industry and facilities which can benefit not just the region but the UK as a whole.
Originally developed specifically to provide a long-range radio transmission facility, the site included high-level and lower-level radio masts linked to three Radio Station buildings (A, B and C). Between these ran a complex network of above and below ground connections, including large underground copper mats to improve the quality and clarity of the radio signals.
To look at it today, the high-level masts have gone leaving a number of lower level masts, insulation mats and much of the below ground infrastructure in place. With operations gradually winding down, the site offers a significant opportunity for redevelopment. |

The development team is currently working on bringing forward two separate applications for the site. These include proposals for a sustainable urban extension to Rugby, on land in to the west of the A5, and proposals for the expansion of Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT), on land in to the east of the A5. |
